Since it was established as a teen center in 1969, the Comstock Community Center has always been about community outreach. Our food pantry was first affiliated with Loaves & Fishes in 1982. Since then, we have evolved into an independent grocery program. We offer a variety of foods that people can “shop” for every 2 weeks on a walk-in basis. To see who qualifies and other information, visit our food pantry program page.
We also offer a program called the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) or Commodities. The Michigan Department of Education created this program in conjunction with Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, Senior Services Inc., Area Agency on Aging, and the Salvation Army. It is designed to provide additional food resources to our local area seniors. To find out who qualifies for this program, dates, and other general information, please visit Commodities.
There are various volunteer opportunities at our Center. Whether you are volunteering to provide to the community, or you need to complete court ordered service, we are able to accommodate most requests. To find our volunteer forms, please visit our volunteer page.
We strive to initiate and develop key relationships between individuals or groups in the community to provide opportunities or assistance to people of all ages in need. If you would like more information on receiving assistance or volunteering your time, please call our Community Outreach Coordinator, Diana at 269-585-0992
